About VBCCO

The VBCCO was founded in 1959 as a way to ensure that all citizens had a voice in local City of Virginia Beach government.

Mission & purpose

  • To create a forum whereby the Civic Organizations throughout the city can work together to educate, inform, and empower civic leaders, support and assist member organizations, and report the facts that affect our neighborhoods.
  • To help organize neighborhood Civic Organizations, and to support the activities of member organizations when requested.
  • To develop and approve Resolutions on matters of city-wide interest that represent the position and/or recommendation of the VBCCO.
  • To unite Virginia Beach neighborhoods for the common good.
  • To study and discuss important issues and problems that affect our communities and to work toward mutually agreeable solutions.
  • To provide a forum for the discussion and debate of current topics and to provide educational programs that will enable member organizations to better serve their residents.

What VBCCO does

The VBCCO is not a political organization, nor is it an activist organization. What we are is an educational organization, attending City Council, Planning Commission, and other Board and Commission meetings around the City, gathering news about City government and reporting that news back to our Members.

History

Founded by concerned citizens in 1959, the VBCCO stands as an educational organization and a vital link between neighborhood Civic Organizations and the Virginia Beach City Government.
