Land Use Watch
Your neighborhood's early warning system
Early notice of land use activity in your Council District, from the City of Virginia Beach Monthly Land Use Report.
What this is
Each month the City of Virginia Beach publishes a Monthly Land Use Report. Its Development Services Center (DSC) section lists the DSC’s inquiry, presubmittal and comment review meetings, and the site plans the DSC approved. These meetings can take place well before a project appears on a Planning Commission or City Council agenda. For approved site plans, the City marks those associated with previous City Council land use approvals; in the City’s words, “All other projects are by-right development.”
Each month VBCCO posts both lists, grouped by Council District, with the project descriptions from the City’s Accela records. VBCCO meets with Planning staff after each report, and notes from that meeting are added to that month’s post.
